By air
Getting to the City of Glasgow is simple with international and domestic flights arriving at our three surrounding international airports, Glasgow Airport, Glasgow Prestwick Airport and Edinburgh Airport. All have good bus links and both Edinburgh and Prestwick have their own train station too.
By road
Scotland has an extensive motorway road network. Glasgow is linked to Edinburgh with the M8, England on the M74, Stirling with the M80 and the West Coast of Scotland with the M77.
By sea
Travel from Ireland to Scotland by ferry
Stenaline operates 6 daily crossings from Belfast to Cairnryan with onward travel provided by Citylink or shuttle buses which will transport you to Stranraer train station.
P&O Ferries run up to 9 daily sailings from Larne to Cairnryan and 2 daily crossings to Troon. It too has good road, train and bus links with Glasgow.
Travel to Scotland from overseas
Travelling to Scotland by ferry is popular from a number of European countries. Ferries run from the Netherlands to Hull in the north east of England, around 4 hours drive from the Scottish border, and from Amsterdam to Newcastle, around 2 hours 40 minutes drive from Glasgow.
By train
Glasgow has two major train stations. Glasgow Central links Glasgow to all UK cities. Glasgow Queen Street serves travellers to Central and Northern Scotland.
