The mission of this Special Interest Group (SIG) is to facilitate and promote the development and exchange of knowledge within all areas of International Management within and beyond the academic community. In line with the European Academy of Management’s (EURAM) mission this SIG aims to be an open, international and multicultural European forum for networking and research (theoretical, empirical and methodological ) related to International Management with a particular (but not exclusive) regional focus on Europe regarding (a) the SIG community and (b) the geographical scope of empirical or conceptual research.

GT 07_00 International Management General Track
The SIG International Management covers ALL subfields of International Management and International Business (e.g., cross-cultural management, strategy and structure of MNCs; cross-border activities of firms; the international business environment, comparative studies). For the 2016 conference, we also explicitly invite research related to the challenges of doing business in an international business environment and various forms of cooperation beyond a mere national level. As examples (rather than a comprehensive list), submissions could relate to international business strategy, functional perspectives, and cooperation across borders. Other relevant IB/IM topics and a cross-pollination of IB/IM with other fields stimulated by multi-disciplinary studies are very welcome.

ST 07_01 Expatriate Management
The topic of Expatriate Management usually involves physical international mobility for work purposes by skilled workers or professionals. Although the core of this topic includes internationally assigned business expatriates, it also reflects changes in the corporate world, using various alternative forms of global employment, as well as changes in today’s society, where movement of people across national borders is becoming increasingly common. Therefore, Expatriate Management research also examines, for example, self-initiated expatriates, expatriate academics, short-term transfers, international business travellers, inpatriates, and commuter assignments.
INTERNATIONAL MANAGEMENT 2016 TRACKS
T 07_03 International Competitiveness
The track invites to reflect on the determinants of competitiveness from a bottom-up, firm-level perspective. A focus on competitiveness centred on firms remains underexplored in the management literature. The drivers of national and regional competitiveness building on the interplay of firms, clusters, sub-national units and entire economies bring different yet complementary views up for academic discussion, with relevant theoretical and practical implications.
T 07_04 Regional perspectives: Management Research in the Arab Middle East
Whether we are examining conditions pre or post the “Arab Spring”, the Arab Middle East contains challenges and unique business dilemmas that although critical remain underrepresented in scholarly works. This is despite its undergoing a period characterized with an over flux of unanswered research questions, each of which requires our immediate scholarly attention. Organizations in these markets are in dire need of research insights that can help them overcome challenges and unlock emerging opportunities. We invite your research insights to this unique track which seeks to explore as a group where are today in terms of raising and addressing these critical research issues?
T 07_06 Regional perspectives: Strategy, Management & Marketing in Africa and other regions
What are the specificities and/or convergences of management practices, of their institutional, cultural and competitive contexts, when we consider different regions of the world? This track gathers contriibutions allowing a deeper understanding of the opportunities and challenges in specific regional environments, particularly focussing on Africa which has attracted significant foreign investments over the past two decades and has seen increasing business competition across this region. Rising competition urges foreign organizations operating in Africa to gain a good unerstanding of this dynamic environment. Typical sessions will focus on strategy, man./pastconferencesa. This track also includes papers on other regions less visible on the research map, e.g.focusing on Latin Clusters.
